Meta Debuts Prompt-Driven AI Tools to Build Games on Mobile and Web
Meta has revealed Horizon Create and Horizon Studio, a pair of AI-driven tools that allow users to generate playable games on phones and web browsers for instant sharing across Instagram and Facebook.

Meta Unveils Prompt-Based Horizon Game Creation Suite
On September 24, 2026, Meta revealed a new initiative to populate its Horizon platform with AI-generated video games, introducing two creation tools: Horizon Create and Horizon Studio. The tools allow users to construct interactive games using text prompts, shifting Horizon's creative pipeline directly onto personal devices. Both applications are rolling out in early access, with Meta opening a waitlist for prospective creators.
Native Social Feed Integration and Granular Editing
Horizon Create is designed as a mobile app, whereas Horizon Studio operates within web browsers to give creators more detailed, granular control over their projects. According to Meta, both systems are built to convert conceptual prompts into full 2D or 3D mobile games equipped with art direction, difficulty balancing, multiplayer capabilities, and progression systems, all of which creators can manually adjust and refine.
To distribute these creations, Meta is connecting Horizon directly to Instagram and Facebook feeds. Rather than requiring users to install standalone software or navigate outside the app, games will be playable natively inside the feeds. According to Meta, someone browsing Instagram can tap on a video clip of a game and load directly into an active multiplayer session within seconds. The company stated that its recommendation system will grant wider reach to games that remain stable, engaging, culturally relevant, and effective at retaining players.
The Mobile Pivot and the Race Against Roblox
The push toward AI-assisted development arrives as Meta redirects Horizon from its origins as a virtual reality space into a mobile-first platform. Horizon has historically faced adoption challenges, logging approximately 300,000 monthly users in early 2022. By embedding playable content across its massive social network feeds, Meta aims to better compete with dominant user-generated content platforms like Roblox.
Roblox, which boasts 123 million daily active users, has similarly introduced mobile AI systems that let creators generate games via text prompts. Meta's effort also attempts to move beyond experimental generative tech, such as Google's Project Genie—which primarily yielded brief interactive snippets—by delivering complete, functional game architectures directly to consumer feeds.
