Nvidia Pledges $2 Billion for Europe and $250 Million in Compute for UK Safety Labs
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has announced $2 billion in new European investments and committed $250 million in compute resources over five years to support UK research into AI agent and robotics safety.

During a European tour spanning Paris, London, and Berlin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced substantial new financial and infrastructure commitments to support Europe's artificial intelligence ecosystem.
In Paris, Huang announced $2 billion in new investments across Europe scheduled for the following week, according to a report from Bloomberg. The fresh capital follows approximately $8 billion that Nvidia spent across the European continent last year.
Backing Startups and Open-Weight AI
As part of the European expansion, Huang revealed that Nvidia has taken new stakes in several French startups, including Doctolib, Genesis AI, Pigment, and Entalpic.
During his appearances, Huang advocated for open-weight models, framing them as an effective way for European developers and institutions to narrow the AI gap with global rivals. He also reiterated his opposition to calls urging the industry to slow down artificial intelligence development.
$250 Million Compute Boost for UK AI Safety
The tour also brought significant compute support for British research initiatives. Nvidia is donating $250 million worth of compute over five years to UK laboratories focusing on AI safety, agent security, open-ended learning, open-source AI architectures, and robotics safety.
The compute allocation will benefit research teams at several leading institutions, specifically:
- BOLD at the University of Oxford
- SOFAIR at University College London (UCL)
- Imperial College London
UK AI Minister Kanishka Narayan welcomed the commitment, describing the five-year compute package as a "vote of confidence in our world-leading strength and expertise in AI research."
