NVIDIA Opens Call for 2027–2028 Doctoral Fellowships

NVIDIA announced on September 30, 2026, that applications are officially open for its 2027–2028 Graduate Fellowship Program. Now in its 26th year, the initiative invites doctoral students worldwide to apply for financial awards, access to technical support, and direct mentorship from company researchers.

The program targets graduate researchers conducting work relevant to NVIDIA’s core technologies, with funding reaching up to $60,000 per recipient.

Funding, Eligibility Criteria, and Internship Requirements

The fellowship covers a broad set of accelerated computing domains, specifically focusing on artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics, autonomous vehicles, high-performance computing, computer graphics, and healthcare applications.

To qualify, candidates must have completed at least their first year of Ph.D.-level studies at the time of submission. In addition to academic standing, applicants must commit to a mandatory in-person summer internship at an NVIDIA research facility in summer 2027 prior to the fellowship year.

Applications are open globally until the deadline on October 30, 2026. Since the program was founded in 2002, NVIDIA has awarded more than 220 grants totaling approximately $8 million to doctoral students across the globe.

Cultivating Academic Talent in Accelerated Computing

As compute demands escalate across artificial intelligence and physical robotics, industry hardware and platform providers increasingly lean on academic pipelines to advance fundamental research. NVIDIA's fellowship setup reflects an ongoing industry strategy: coupling direct academic grants with corporate research lab internships to bridge theoretical graduate work with production-scale hardware and accelerated computing infrastructure.
