Elon Musk’s AI Encyclopedia Grokipedia Resumes Updates After Months of Inactivity
Grokipedia, the AI-driven encyclopedia from SpaceXAI, is processing page edits and running fact-checks again following a months-long hiatus.

Grokipedia Shows Signs of Life After Extended Standstill
Grokipedia, the AI-powered online encyclopedia platform developed under Elon Musk’s SpaceXAI banner, has resumed editing and updating articles following an extended pause. In August, Lawfare reported that the project had not reviewed edits since April. However, the site’s live update log has begun populating with fresh activity, signaling that the service has quietly been switched back on.
Uneven Fact-Checking and Community Contributions Resume
Activity on the platform appears to have restarted only recently, though the updates are uneven across the site's catalog. Numerous recent updates simply include a automated note reading "recheck all references and sources." Notable individual entries show recent interactions: the entry for former President Barack Obama indicates it was "Fact-checked by Grok" two days prior, while Elon Musk’s own biography page received a Grok fact-check within the last hour. By contrast, secondary pages remain stagnant; the entry for Honolulu, linked directly from Obama's page, had not undergone a fact-check in seven months.
The platform is also once again accepting user-submitted modifications and processing page proposals. An update submitted to the Gears of War: E-Day page regarding the game's October 6th release date was accepted and integrated directly into the text. Meanwhile, an article creation request for Meta's Muse chatbot was successfully logged and designated as "In Review." SpaceXAI did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the system's renewed operations.
Musk’s Wikipedia Rivalry and Platform Roadmap
Musk originally framed Grokipedia as a direct competitor to traditional crowdsourced knowledge bases, claiming roughly a year ago that it would be "a massive improvement over Wikipedia." Despite those statements, Musk has not posted publicly on X about Grokipedia since February.
Recent activity aligns with comments from internal leadership. Benji Taylor, head of design at X and SpaceXAI, posted an update regarding the platform's status last week, writing, "We haven’t forgotten about Grokipedia" and adding that "v0.2 will be better than ever"—even though a version 0.2 had technically launched previously in November.
